THE BIG SHIP SAILS
The big ship sails on the ally ally oh,
The alley ally oh, the alley ally oh.
The big ship sails on the ally ally oh,
On the last day of September.
The captain said, 'It will never, never do,
Never, never do, never, never do.'
The captain said, 'It will never, never do,'
On the last day of September.
The big ship sank to the bottom of the sea,
The bottom of the sea, the bottom of the sea.
The big ship sank to the bottom of the sea,
On the last day of September.
Scrunchie: side to side to show the beat
Beat keeping on body ‘clap hands, pat head’
Use your thinking voice on different words
(‘sails’ or ‘September’)
THREE BILLY GOATS GRUFF
Three Billy Goats Gruff came to a pass,
On their search for greener grass.
The troll on the bridge said you can’t pass me,
Unless you solve my riddles three!
Which musical instrument can’t you see or touch, but only hear?
Two Billy Goats Gruff came to a pass,
On their search for greener grass.
The troll on the bridge said you can’t go through
Unless you solve my riddles two!
You hold me in your hand and I’m almost always round, unless you shake me, I won’t make a sound.
Using the melody for
'In the Hall of the Mountain King’
tap the beat as ‘tap knees/clap hands’ pattern
I can see three Billy goats
Billy goats
Billy goats
I can see three Billy goats
They want to cross the bridge!
One Billy Goat Gruff came to a pass,
On their search for greener grass.
The troll on the bridge said you can’t go on,
Unless you solve my riddle one!
I have four strings; I am played with a bow. I am normally made of wood and I tuck under your chin.
GOLDILOCKS, GOLDILOCKS
Sit in a circle with one child in centre with eyes closed, with an empty bowl (‘baby bear’).
Instruct another child to be ‘Goldilocks’.
During the song, ‘Goldilocks’ sneaks up and steals the empty bowl.
They must return to their place before the song ends.
If they don’t then ‘baby bear’ remains happy with their porridge and has another turn.
If they do, ‘baby bear’ has to try and guess who has stolen their porridge.
‘Goldilocks’ then becomes ‘baby bear’ in the centre of the circle and the game continues.
Goldilocks, Goldilocks
with your golden hair
Goldilocks Goldilocks
don’t upset the baby bear
I LOVE PORRIDGE
(extra song if needed)

MAGIC BEANS
Magic beans, Magic beans
Little, brown and round
Magic beans, Magic beans
Grow in the ground
Magic beans, Magic beans
Will you grow for me
Magic beans, Magic beans
What will you be
Will you be a ladder to
reach the clouds above?
Will you grant a wish so I can fly like a dove?
Magic beans, Magic beans
Shooting from the ground
Magic beans, magic beans
don’t make a sound
Magic beans, Magic beans
Will you grow up high
Magic beans, Magic beans
Touch the sky
TWINKLE TWINKLE
Twinkle Twinkle, Little Star
How I wonder what you are
Up above the world so high
Like a diamond in the sky
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
How I wonder what you are!
Falling, falling autumn leaves,
Falling, falling, from the trees,
Up above and on the ground,
Swirling, twirling all around,
Falling, falling autumn leaves,
Falling, falling from the trees
Rest a teddy on a piece of lycra and gently sway to the beat to help teddy drift off to sleep.
At the end of the song, encourage the children to release the lycra carefully so it can be wrapped around the sleeping teddy.
